Construction Update
March 23, 2013
A line break on Saturday night resulted in a 5 day delay of the project. A 20" line at the Crooked Creek crossing near Harmon separated because the ground shifted after heavy rains. The leak was repaired but the repair didn't hold and the line had to be completely reworked in that area. Full service was not restored until Thursday, the 28th.

The physical construction has been completed. We started supplying water to Lead Hill, Diamond City, Lake Bull Shoals Estates on November 1, 2012. Valley Springs came online December 27, 2012 and also supplied water through their existing connection. The dedicated Western Grove connection was turned on January 28, 2013. The SPG (St Joe, Pindall, Gilbert) connection was turned on February 11. Line testing, sanitizing, and approvals are required for the remainder of the system. We expect things to begin progressing at a more rapid pace and hope to have all systems online before summer.

Since the last update, a great deal of progress has been made in all areas of the project. The last section of the main pipe line was laid to join sections 4 and 5 in the Zinc area. This concluded the 122 miles of pipeline to carry water to the 19 water municipalities in the system.
All 6 water storage tanks were erected. Cold weather halted the painting of most of the tanks but the work will resume very soon.
The intake structure housing the intake pipes was completed recently. A test was begun today of the pumps at the intake site to draw water out of the lake and up the hill to the treatment plant. At the intake site, the pump/main control building has been constructed and nearing completion.
At the treatment plant, all buildings have been built or installed and are in some phase of completion -- the chlorine building, office and filter building, electrical building, and the main pump building. The clearwell and clarifier are basically complete.

This is the water tank South of Lead Hill. Painting is in process. The tank at the water treatment plant is under construction. 96% of the water transmission lines have been installed as of December 31st.

As of the end of October, eighty-five percent of the 120 miles of underground pipeline has been installed. The booster pumping stations and water storage tanks are almost complete. All of the tanks that have been erected (Mt Sherman, Deer and South Lead Hill) have also been painted. The Western Grove tank has just begun to be erected.
Progress can be seen below on the intake site. Intake pipes are in place and concrete work to secure them is being done.
The last 3 pictures depict continuing progress at the water treatment plant. The big white circular building is the clearwell which is complete. Several buildings including the water treatment plant/office itself are under construction.

Sixty-two percent of the 120 miles of underground pipeline have been installed to date. Three booster pumping stations and three water storage tanks have been set.
Two of the installed water tanks are shown below. The painted tank is at Mt Sherman. This is a ground storage standpipe style tank (taller than diameter) and the only one of these styles to be installed for this project. The other picture shows a multi-column style tank at Deer. This style will be installed at 3 other locations (near South Lead Hill, at the water treatment plant and along Highway 65 between Valley Springs and Western Grove). The third style to be used in this project is the ground storage reservoir (shorter than diameter). One of these tanks will be located at Canaan, south of Marshall and will hold 440,000 gallons.
The last picture shows a high-service pump that will pump treated water into the storage tank at the treatment plant site.

Storage tanks are being erected around the project area. In the center picture below the South Lead Hill tank can be seen from 6 miles away at the Diamond City golf course.
Three Booster stations have been delivered and set in place (Booster pump numbers 3, 5 and 7).
At the intake site, preparation for the pump casings is almost complete.

Intake pipes have been constructed and moved to the lake edge on Horseshoe Bend Road, ready for floating to the intake site. The lake can be seen at the end of the road.
Good progress is being made on the many components at the Water Treatment site.
